On a sunny spring afternoon, a lone baseball player and his shadow stand in the outfield during a game at Coleman Square Playground in New York City. He’s seen from the Manhattan Bridge several hundred feet above and is but a spec on the green outfield, located near Chinatown in lower Manhattan. The bridge’s metal bars add a sense of foreground and graphically obscure much of the green field. The lone baseball player at Coleman Square Playground was photographed on a Mamiya 645AF medium format camera. The film was scanned on a top-of-the-line Hasselblad Flextight X5 scanner.
