Fine art Photography Black and white picture of girl captivated by The Cyclone Coney Island roller coaster ride

A tiny girl is captivated by a Coney Island roller coaster ride called the Cyclone. Standing alone, the little girl gazes up in fascination at the famous wooden ride towering above her. The girl is dwarfed by a huge chainlink fence separating her from the ride, which is located in Astroland Park, now called Luna Park. The Coney Island roller coaster ride, an official New York City landmark, was photographed on a Hasselblad 500 CM medium format camera with Kodak Tri-X black and white film. The film was hand-developed and scanned on a top-of-the-line Hasselblad Flextight X5 Scanner.

Are the prints printed by the artist or outsourced?

Brian takes great pride in his work. Unlike many photographers who offer prints of their work, all prints are personally hand-printed by the artist himself. Printing and shipping of your print are not outsourced through a third-party’s automated order fulfillment system. Brian personally handles every print purchase. This takes more work and time, but Brian is able to maintain full control over the artistic quality of his work.

What printing method and paper do you use?

All prints are Archival Pigment Prints printed on acid-free, museum grade paper. Due to natural variations in operating systems and computer screens, the images you see on this site may differ slightly in color and lightness from the physical print. However, we guarantee the print will have beautiful, accurate-looking color, tonality, and density.

Once purchased, what is my print’s lifespan?

Collecting prints is a long-term investment. Archival pigment prints have up to a century life span or longer, if stored/displayed properly. The print you purchase today can be gifted to loved ones years or even decades from now and will be cherished and enjoyed by generations of your family.

Why are print dimensions different from image dimensions?

In order to make framing easier for you, all prints are printed on standard size papers. Square prints, for instance, are printed on standard rectangular paper sizes, so you can easily fit it into a standard sized frame. There is a white space of approximate 1/2 inch on either side of the image for a cleaner look.

Are prints larger than 20×24 available for purchase?

Yes, prints sizes of up to 30×40 are available to purchase. Please contact Brian directly for pricing and editions of larger prints.

Are the prints signed?

Each limited-edition print is personally hand-signed and numbered by Brian Shumway, except for Instagram prints, which are not limited editions.

How are payments processed?

All payments are processed securely through Paypal.

Is credit card information stored on your site? Is my information private?

No credit card information is collected or stored on this site. Any information required to order prints is not sold or distributed to third-parties any way ever. Period.

How long will shipping take for my print?

For prints purchased within the United States, please allow 2-4 weeks from order date for print to arrive. For international print purchases, shipping could take up to six weeks from order date.

Is framing available for my print? Is framing recommended?

Yes, framing is available and HIGHLY recommended. Proper framing will increase the longevity of your print. Please contact Brian directly for framing options and pricing.

What is your return policy?

If not satisfied with the print’s quality, simply return the print in mint condition within 30 days of shipment date and we will refund your purchase. Return-postage paid by purchaser.
